The context

The Hospitals directorate oversees the regulation of acute, community, ambulance and mental health services, both within the NHS and in the independent sector. These services are complex, and regulation faces many challenges, but has the potential to make a real difference to people’s lives.

In this pivotal role, you will help translate our vision into tangible, positive, lasting results. Drawing on every facet of your considerable expertise, you will be instrumental to promoting good care and restoring public confidence by tackling poor care.

Your role

As Deputy Chief Inspector, you will deliver a key national lead role together with leadership responsibility for the regulation of Hospitals.

This is a post with high profile responsibilities. You will shape strategy at a senior level, leading CQC’s work on Nursing more broadly, acting as the professional national lead by representing CQC on a range of national initiatives. You will provide expert advice to the Chief Inspector and other key stakeholders, both internal and external, on Nursing related matters ensuring compliance with key legal and government wide obligations and reflecting best practice standards.

You will travel across your region and nationally as required, enjoying strong support from colleagues within the Hospitals Directorate and across the organisation.
