NHS Tayside is the fourth largest healthcare provider in Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. With strong links to local Universities, the Board provides tertiary services to around 350,000 people across Tayside and North East Fife, employing over over 13,000 staff across three hospital and many other sites. Primary and community care services are currently organised into three Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) in Dundee city, Perth and Kinross and Angus which are overseen by Integration Joint Boards. Our ambition is to be regarded as a sector leader in the provision of high quality patient care.

We are transforming the way we deliver healthcare through the Transforming Tayside programme; an ambitious programme of whole-system redesign which seeks to find solutions and new ways of delivering health and care, which is led by our clinicians. It is rooted in maintaining safe, high-quality patient care, remodelling our workforce and improving outcomes whilst bringing the organisation back into financial balance. Whilst seeking to implement fundamental transformation towards modern world class services, the Board also has to address underlying financial, workforce and service delivery issues.

To thrive in this role the new Medical Director will share our vision, aim and values and will provide inspirational and empowering leadership to our medical professionals, dentists, pharmacists and healthcare scientists to ensure a culture of continuous quality improvement where patients and service users are put first always. Key to this will be the establishment in partnership with the Nurse Director of robust governance and regulatory frameworks to ensure effective monitoring, review and improved clinical performance across the Board and the Health & Social Care Partnerships.

To be successful you must be an inspirational and credible clinician with extensive experience at a Board level with a proven track record of delivering clinical and service transformational change within the NHS or other large complex organisation. You must hold current registration with the GMC (GP or Specialty Register) and hold a licence to practice.

We would welcome confidential informal discussions – to arrange a suitable date or time, please contact the Chief Executive Office on number supplied. Alternatively, please e-mail chiefexec.tayside@nhs.net.

Closing date: 12 noon, Tuesday, 18 June 2019.

The selection process will follow the NHS Scotland Values Based Recruitment Framework and early planning requires prospective shortlisted candidates to be available to attend the Selection Assessment Centre on 3 July 2019 and Structured Interview on 4 July 2019. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend on both dates.
