This post offers the opportunity to work as a senior member of an established pharmacy cancer services team in the Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC). The ECC provides specialist cancer services for the South East of Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN), treating patients with solid tumours and haematological malignancies in day-case, OPD and in-patient settings. It is a specialist tertiary referral centre for a number of rarer cancers and has a teenage and young adult unit.
You will work closely with senior colleagues to provide professional leadership for delivery of cancer haematology services to adult patients attending the ECC. You will be a key member of multi-disciplinary groups within the ECC and work closely with the MDT to improve and maintain delivery of the pharmacy service within your specialist area. The haematology service in the ECC is in the middle of a major project which will deliver upgraded facilities for patients and transform the way that treatment is delivered to patients, with the majority of parenteral SACT delivery moving to day-case ambulatory care. You will be integral to the delivery of this project, continuing the work-plan started by the substantive post-holder to redesign SACT pathways and protocols alongside the MDT.
You will work as part of a team delivering the clinical pharmacy service to haematology in-patients, however once the service has reconfigured the remit of the team will include both haematology in-patients and day-case SACT delivery via the new unit.
Preferred days of work: Thurs, Fri and Mon - although there may be some flexibility with this. You will participate in the WGH pharmacy department weekend rota on a pro-rata basis and the ECC pharmacy service public holiday rota covering the Christmas and New Year public holidays.
