Employee Relations Manager

The Finegreen Group is working in partnership with an NHS organisation based in the South East that requires an experienced NHS Employee Relations manager for a five month fixed term assignment. This role is at AfC band 8a level with an annual salary of £44,606 to £50,819 pro rata.

The successful candidate will be required to lead on the development and delivery of a complete ER service for the Trust in order to support the Trust’s operational effectiveness and the achievement of the Trust’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities will include;
  • To provide consistently sound advice and support to managers on all aspects of staff management;
  • To keep managers up-to-date on the Trust’s Workforce procedures and relevant employment legislation, helping them to adhere to their Trust and legal responsibilities;
  • To lead on the effective management and control of staffing, advising managers on the planning and implementation of any changes;
  • To contribute to the fair and effective operation of the Trust's systems for pay and terms and conditions, including the national Agenda for Change, through identifying any pay and terms and conditions anomalies, designing and developing and advising on any solutions, and (depending on the nature and scope of the anomaly) leading on implementation;
  • To provide advice and support to managers to help ensure the effective, efficient and fair treatment of staff in accordance with employment law and Trust policy and procedures. To keep the effectiveness of procedures under review, making recommendations concerning any changes. To work with managers on ways of overcoming any identified recruitment difficulties.
Key experience & skills required;
  • Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management, or equivalent, or higher HR qualification;
  • Worked in a complex organisational environment in a NHS / healthcare or similar environment and be able to demonstrate growth in role;
  • Contributed to the planning, implementation or review of an organisational change having an impact on groups of individuals in an organisation;
  • Worked in a unionised environment (or similar) with experience of working with staff side representatives;
  • Ability to apply equality and diversity knowledge to the organisational setting and the role of HR in its promotion;
  • Ability, knowledge and skill to handle the employee relations aspects of major change situations and projects;
  • Excellent stakeholder and communications skills.
