The role is varied and fulfilling with support provided to you by a site based Senior Contract Manager and wider support network coupled with a dedicated training plan supported by our own in house training providers.

Where you will work

* The successful candidate will be working at a pharmaceutical business in Swindon where we hold a contract to manage their waste and cleaning services. They work with external stakeholders to produce bespoke and speciality small batch products.

* You will be responsible for ten members of staff on site. They all work different shifts, so you will need to have some flexibility in your working hours to ensure that all staff have the support they need. In addition, your line manager will be based on site three days per week.

What you will do

* As the Graduate Assistant Contract Manager, you will be responsible for managing the work of a team of full time and part time cleaning and waste operatives, as well as arranging cover and overtime in the event of their absence.

* You will organise the workload of the team to ensure an even distribution of work, assist in the advertisement for, interviewing and employment of, new and replacement cleaning operatives, as and when required.

* You will also ensure that all operatives are adequately trained to an acceptable level, commensurate with the duties they are to perform.

* A large part of your role will be ensuring that the team of cleaning operatives perform to the standard required by the Client, that the operatives have appropriate security clearance (CRB checks) in place and have received suitable training in Good Manufacturing Processes.

* You will monitor the performance of staff and take the necessary action to manage performance.

* You will be responsible for ensuring that all cleaning materials required by the team are available, using agreed suppliers, ensuring that cleaning materials are used safely and are kept secure and that the client's Health and Safety policy is adhered to at all times.

* You will also ensure that all waste collections are scheduled and carried out in line with the customer expectations and within set parameters. Waste collected include non-hazardous waste, hazardous waste and recyclables; therefore, previous experience or qualification in Environmental Management or Chemistry would be advantageous.

* You'll also be expected to write and update risk assessments and method statements, COSHH assessments, site procedures and other associated documentation.

The role will be Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:30 with the occasional requirement to work extra hours when the business requires.

The above is a summary of main duties only. Other duties may be required to be fulfilled to meet the changing nature of this role. Also part of the role will be to deputise for the Senior Contract Manager at site. This will entail arranging scheduled collections, maintaining compliant paperwork and dealing with the client's requests.

Experience you will need

* You will have a degree in either Chemistry or Waste/Environmental Management.

* To enable you to carry out this role you will have excellent communication skills at all levels and have results-driven focus to deliver against targets and deadlines.

* Ideally, you will be IOSH Managing Safely qualified and prepared to work towards a NEBOSH General Certificate.
