Job Details
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical support to meet the needs of people who present to A&E departments /paediatric services under the age of 18 years/CAMHS;
- Contribute to the provision of an OOH service for children and young people experiencing mental health problems. The service will operate 3pm-12am Monday to Friday and 12pm-12am, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays;
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the CAMHS Services;
- Undertake a range of therapeutic tasks individually and jointly with members of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS OOH Crisis team including;
- Assess deliberate self-harm (DSH) cases in A&E or on the paediatric wards. Crisis support, intervention and consultation with community based CAMHS colleagues across the locality;
- Triage young people in A&E and identify whether there are concerns about mental health but where it is not clear that they require a psychiatric assessment;
- Provide training to A&E staff and paediatric ward staff;
- Provide operational management and clinical supervision to junior practitioners;
- Qualification at degree level/ equivalent and registration with relevant professional body with a core profession (clinical/counselling psychology, psychotherapy, systemic family psychotherapy social work, nursing, occupational therapy);
- Relevant training or qualification in child and adolescent mental health.
