A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an exciting new opportunity for a Risk Manager. The post holder will lead and develop the organisations Risk Management Policy.

This is an interim 3-month post based in the South West Region.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee processes, learning from incidents and Learning Lessons;
  • Co-ordinate the Patient Safety team;
  • Provide expert advice and support in risk management to develop and coordinate a robust structure in the clinical environment;
  • Work with care groups as well as medical and managerial staff across the organisation;
  • Advise and guide teams on risk management issues;
  • Ensure regular reports on risk management and patient safety are recorded and shared; Produce performance assurance information via the Performance Assurance Framework showing internal and external performance management;
  • Accountability for the development, implementation and monitoring of the organisations Risk Policy;
  • Ensure effective and efficient incident investigation and patient experience including complaints management to comply with national and local requirements and the corporate agenda;
  • Lead on incident investigations, draft responses are prepared within timescales;
  • Provide best practice and appropriate measures to achieve targets;
  • Deputise for the Lead Nurse of Patient Experience, Risk and Safety as and when required in relation to safety issues;
  • Organise, plan and co-ordinate Root Cause Analysis training;
  • Develop systems to ensure all risk assessments are recorded, reviewed and measures are implemented and to provide advice on appropriate action.
A successful candidate will have:
  • First level registered Nurse/Midwife (or relevant professional registration) or specialist qualification in Health & Safety / Risk Management;
  • Experience in risk management;
  • Management qualification or equivalent level of experience;
  • Proven track record of clinical service management at a senior level;
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions;
  • Good understanding of the changing NHS environment;
  • Well-developed leadership and influencing skills;
  • Evidence of leading change in clinical practice;
  • Experience of standard setting and audit;
  • Ability to receive and provide complex, sensitive or highly contentious information.
