Job Details

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive mental healthcare service for residents of Birmingham and Solihull, and to communities in the West Midlands and beyond. We operate out of more than 40 sites and serve a culturally and socially diverse population of 1.3 million spread over 172 square miles, have an annual income of £248 million, a dedicated workforce of almost 4,000 staff and a range of local and regional partnerships, making this one of the most complex and specialist mental health foundation trusts in the country.

We provide a wide range of inpatient, community and specialist mental health services for service users from the age of 16 upwards in Birmingham and for all ages in Solihull, as well as regional and national specialist services including forensic, perinatal, deaf, eating disorders and neuropsychiatry services. In addition, our Trust manages the delivery of all healthcare services at HM Prison Birmingham and works closely with the criminal justice system.

We are a trust with a rich history and a national reputation for innovation, partnership working and service excellence. This has included our Reach Out accountable care partnership with Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and St Andrew’s Healthcare, and the MERIT partnership. In addition to this we were one of the first mental health trusts in the country to be selected by NHS England as a Global Digital Exemplar.

Despite this and like many NHS trusts, we have faced our challenges and we acknowledge the need for improvement, particularly in relation to the finding of our more recent CQC inspections. We have reflected and accepted the findings of these inspections and we now have a robust action plan in place to address the findings.

We have also recently appointed a new Chief Executive, who brings an outstanding track record of achievement, after leading her previous trust to an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. She will now lead our organisation as we strive to reach new heights. The first appointment made by our new Chief Executive will be that of an Executive Director of Operations and this will be a key post in ensuring we realise our ambitions.

The Executive Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring our trust delivers high quality, efficient and cost effective services. In addition to the operational focus of the role, as a Trust Board Director the post shares responsibility with fellow Executive Directors for the overall cultural strategic direction and performance of the Trust.

We are looking for exceptional individuals who share our values, our passion and our ambition. If you are looking for a position that will be highly influential across both our organisation and the wider health system, and you are looking for an organisation with our significant core values: Honesty and openness; Compassion; Dignity and respect; Commitment; who understands and is committed to acting and behaving in line with these, then we look forward to seeing your application.

Company

Put simply, we help our clients to recruit the best possible people to lead, manage and direct their organisations. Since launching in 2005 we have become an award winning, market-leading consultancy focusing on both public and private sector Healthcare recruitment.

Leadership skills have rarely been at such a premium - as organisations across both public and private sectors attempt to improve services and standards at a time of widespread change and unprecedented financial constraints.

Like other leading executive recruiters, Finegreen has developed a pool of talent built up over many years, along with established networks, to ensure that right-match candidates get to hear about relevant positions - sound pegs for rounds holes.

Where Finegreen differs from many others, is in its willingness to spend quality time with clients - to gain an in-depth knowledge of roles being filled and their importance to an organisation; and that goes for everyone from Chief Executive Neil Fineberg, Chairman and former NHS Confederation chief, Steve Barnett, and ex NHS Chief Executive John Rostill to other members of the Finegreen executive team.

During just 10 years in the Healthcare market, Finegreen has developed into a Virgin Fast Track top 100 company - and was voted Recruiter of the Year 2013 & 2014 at the Health Investor Awards, Top small to medium sized business 2013 & 2014 at the Best Business Awards, and featured in Recruiter’s Top 10 Public Sector Recruitment providers.
