At NHS Greater Manchester Shared Services (GMSS), we provide expert support and advice to clinical commissioners to help deliver improved health services to their local populations. We offer an extensive range of services (from IT to Finance) and employ over 300 staff, securing an annual turnover of approximately £20.9 million, of which £13.9 million is secured through the provision of IT services.

Established in its current operating model in 2016, GMSS is managed under a hosting arrangement by NHS Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) on behalf of the ten CCGs across Greater Manchester.  Greater Manchester CCGs currently make up the majority of our client base, but we also host a range of services for NHS England and other customers, including provider trusts, general practices, numerous social care, community care and voluntary sector organisations, as well as local authorities and the private sector and we are keen to achieve further growth and diversity as we secure new investment going forward.

We are appointing our new CIO at a pivotal time, as devolution significantly impacts the regional approach to health and social care in Greater Manchester.  With change comes opportunity and we are committed to ensuring that we maintain and build on the major economic gains we have delivered regionally during the past five years, building on our relevance and value as a partner to each of the 10 localities that make up our region through the delivery of exceptional customer outcomes.

As our new CIO, you’ll be required to review and build on our current services and offerings in response to customer need and opportunity.  We are committed to growing our organisation and the foundational work you do at the outset of your tenure will enable you and your team to develop products, services and expertise to truly meet the needs and expectations of an increasingly diverse client base.  Your ability to operate commercially within the value set of our organisation and the sectors we serve will be critical to success, helping us to secure longer term contracts and maximising return from investment to enable us to grow, diversify and support the region.

We’re looking for an exceptional, future focused leader who will help us to grow our organisation, ensuring that we offer compelling products and services to our growing customer base.  Strategic yet pragmatic, you’ll form strong working partnerships with key external stakeholders to support and inform their respective technology and data strategies, inspiring confidence and securing partnership at all levels.  A customer champion, you’ll question and where appropriate, re-shape our approach to customer service and delivery, setting high standards and clear expectations for internal teams and providing coherent and inspiring leadership to ensure that staff are fully developed and suitably equipped to provide sector leading customer experience.

As a member of our senior management team, you will be required to make a significant contribution at a critical time, helping us to become more agile, future focused and commercially viable as the sectors we serve evolve and change.  You’ll ensure that we have a valuable role to play as the regional health economy moves into a new era, operating with influence and in a spirit of partnership in a region we care about.

If you think you have the required skills, aptitude and commitment to join us on our journey, we would love to hear from you.
