A large NHS organisation is seeking to appoint an Interim Operations Manager for Clinical Support Services for a 3 month period in the first instance.
This is a key role with the organization and experience in a senior operational management role within the NHS is essential preferably within Clinical Support/Allied Clinical Support Services.
This role will be remunerated under the NHSI Agency Caps at Band 8c/Band 8d.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the Divisional Director of Operations for Clinical Support Services, General Managers, Clinical Leads, Service Leads and divisional managerial staff in the planning, development, provision and review of, patient focussed and cost-effective integrated pathways and services;
  • Lead on the development of the annual Divisional Delivery Plan, ensuring that the plan is embedded within each clinical directorate/service area. To monitor performance against the plan and support the clinical directorate/service teams to ensure its delivery. To lead on specific elements of the plan as defined by the Divisional Director of Operations;
  • Support the Division to identify the necessary resources and facilities required as part of the planning process and delivery of the Divisional Delivery Plan;
  • Develop business cases in support of service improvements, transformation and new business opportunities. Work closely with the divisional Finance and HR Business Partners, along with the Business Development team and other corporate departments to ensure that all implications such as quality, risk, activity, demand, market share, finance and workforce are fully captured and timelines identified for approval, whilst ensuring that the governance processes are fully adhered to;
  • Ensure that action plans/recovery plans are on track ie GIRFT, Model Hospital, Service Line Reporting;
  • Work with Divisional General Managers, provide assurance that the agreed financial activity and other performance targets in the annual Business Plan will be delivered. Escalate immediately any concerns pertaining to non- delivery to the Divisional Director of Operations;Ensure performance dashboards are available with up to date data and that the Division achieves its local and national performance targets thorough robust processes developed with the Divisional General Managers/Heads of Service;
  • To deputise for, and act up on behalf of the Divisional Director of Operations;
  • Support & lead on the development and implementation QIPP based service improvements throughout the Division’s portfolio, which supports achievement of the Trust’s Corporate Objectives;
  • Work with key stakeholders and partners to maximise the QIPP agenda;
  • Ensure that standards of service set are reviewed to support the delivery of services in line with NSFs national and local guidance and benchmarks, local contractual requirements, activity and financial targets.
