Job Details

A large NHS organisation is currently seeing the appointment of a Head of Facilities to manage Soft FM services and also contribute to the Estates Efficiency/CIP plan for the Facilities Department. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective management, strategic leadership and direction to the range of Facilities services. Take senior lead on all Facilities operational activity within the department and assist the Director of Estates and Facilities in the development and delivery of strategies for the range of services;
  • Ensure efficient, effective, customer focused services are delivered against agreed targets and within budget, deliver CIPs for various workstreams within Estates also focused on the outsourcing of some services within the tenure;
  • Ensure quality principles and standards are in place to meet the Trust, local and national standards. Work closely with colleagues in the department to ensure the Trust environment is maintained to high standards;
  • Work in collaboration with wider team in Estates and Capital Planning, to assist the Director of Estates & Facilities in the strategic management and operational performance of the Estates and Facilities Department;
  • Ensure with managers and supervisors that staffing levels are maintained and appropriate resources are in place;
  • Set objectives for operational teams to support the business planning process and provide a framework and develop relevant metrics for performance monitoring;
  • Ensure and demonstrate statutory and regulatory compliance with respect to Facilities Services. Keep a compliance scorecard to demonstrate continuous compliance improvement.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Significant senior experience in Facilities within a healthcare setting, including the management and appraisal of teams;
  • Proven track record of managing several disciplines within Estates and Facilities/support services Management;
  • Experience of contract/tendering of services also working within a complex politically sensitive environment.
  • Extensive experience detailed in work experience, in the delivery of Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs) within Estates and Facilities, also a thorough understanding of the expectations of NHSI/E around CIPs within the NHS.
