Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the biggest and busiest acute NHS trusts in the North West region, with an income of approximately £335 million and more than 6,000 committed employees working across two main hospital sites.  We are the largest employer in Wirral and provide a full range of acute healthcare services across the Wirral peninsula.

We are focused on providing exceptional patient and family centred care to the communities we serve. We deliver this through pathways of care which are enabled by innovation and leading-edge technology.  Central to our strategic development is the transformation and integration of services locally with the Healthy Wirral Partnership and increasingly developing closer collaborative working relationships within the broader Cheshire & Merseyside Health & Care Partnership.  Whilst we face operational and financial challenges, we have already demonstrated positive progress on our transformational journey.

Over the last 12 months we have built a strong and refreshed leadership team, and this Deputy Chief Operating Officer role is a broad and new position which comes at a pivotal time for the Trust.  Reporting to and deputising for the Chief Operating Officer, this role will have significant Board exposure and wide responsibilities including service improvement, operational performance management and business intelligence.  It will require visionary leadership and will be central to defining and delivering our future clinical and site strategies.

We are seeking a visible leader both for staff in the organisation and who will engage with credibility with our partners in the wider health economy.  An aspirant Executive with a recent track record of strong operational service delivery in a complex healthcare environment, you will bring an open and transparent style to supporting the clinical and operational leaders in each of our divisions to deliver financially and clinically sustainable services.  Progressive and dynamic, you will share our passion for providing high quality care to our patients and creating a supportive environment for our workforce.  This is an excellent opportunity to step towards an executive position and to hold a broad organisational wide portfolio of operational and corporate services.  Come and make your mark with a committed and empowering team in an ambitious and patient-centred organisation.
