Department: Cancer, Cardiology & Clinical Support Services

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is a District General Hospital providing acute services to the people of West Essex and East Hertfordshire and has a positive and successful approach to developing and delivering health care. We are committed to our values: Respectful, Caring, Responsible and Committed.

The current postholder has been appointed as the President of the British Society of Radiologists and will be looking to handover in September this year. We’re therefore looking to appoint a new Associate Medical Director. We need a candidate who is dynamic, outstanding and versatile and has a keen interest in developing and supporting improvements in Cancer, Cardiology and Clinical Support Services.

The Cancer, Cardiology and Clinical Support (CCCS) Health Care Group consists of ten disciplines, employs over 900 members of staff and has an annual budget in excess of £45m. The Health Care Group senior leadership triumvirate comprises of the Associate Medical Director, Director of Operations and Associate Director of Nursing and Therapies. CCCS are a high performing Health Care Group across all metrics, a strong reputation and track record of delivering, a ‘Good’ CQC rating and a real desire and opportunity to become ‘Outstanding’.

This is a key leadership position in the Trust with the responsibility and accountability to manage, develop, direct and lead patient safety and quality, service improvement, and performance strategies coupled with financial delivery to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, efficient and effective patient care.

Your track record will demonstrate success in leading and managing complex services and teams in an acute hospital setting. Of equal importance will be the personal qualities you possess – a truly collaborative approach, drive, resilience and empathy.

You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the variety of clinical practice that comes from working in a busy district general hospital setting whilst developing their own special interest both clinically and non-clinically. The driving focus of the Trust is patient safety and quality of care in addition to the further development of the strong training programmes and innovation in clinical care.

In return, we can offer you a unique opportunity to be part of an amazing organisation that has an impact on the lives of many, at an exciting time of change and to help form and deliver our strategic direction ensuring we remain a highly effective and successful provider of healthcare services. Our vision is for it to be ‘A joy to work at The Princess Alexandra NHS Hospital Trust’.
