Commissioning Manager

The Finegreen Group is working in Partnership with a healthcare organisation that requires an interim Commissioning Manager for Mental Health for a 7 month assignment commencing in September. This role is inside IR35 and at a day rate of £300 - £315 per day.

The Commissioning Manager will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Sector/Area to commission specialised mental health and learning disability services.

The post is responsible for providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Local Area Team and Directorate.

The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • To commission high quality specialised mental health and learning disability services in line with agreed NHS CB expectations;
  • Lead contract discussions utilising appropriate contract levers to improve quality and outcomes, reaching agreement with providers and ensure ongoing contract monitoring and review;
  • To ensure that clinical leadership is central to the delivery of all NHS Commissioning Board activities;
  • To work collaboratively across the NHS CB matrix, including integrating the National Director’s portfolio with the Domain Leads.
Key experience and skills will include;
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in a commissioning role;
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders;
  • Experience in developing and utilising a range of skills relating to the service line;
  • Awareness of NHS infrastructure, governance and healthcare policy
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly;
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.
