Job Details
This role will start ASAP and will be for 3 months in the first instance.
Role brief:
- Responsible for ensuring that the organisation complies with relevant legislation and terms of authorisation issued by the Independent Regulator NHSI as it relates to NHS Trusts
- Ensure that all statutory returns represent a true and fair view of the organisation and are completed on time
- Establish procedures for the sound governance of the organisation that ensures efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus
- Lead on the development and maintenance of Corporate Risk Management arrangements across the organisation and the implementation and management of the Board Governance and Accountability Framework
- Proactively support, and further develop the Board, ensuring effective running of Board business alongside fulfilling the statutory requirements of the organisation’s aims of transparency and high levels of public, patient and staff engagement
- Investigate and advise on highly complex governance issues and lead on corporate reporting, providing strategic governance advice on any acquisitions or similar transactions
- Ensure that meetings of the Board of Directors and their committees are run efficiently and effectively, are properly supported and recorded, and that Directors receive appropriate support to fulfil their legal and other duties
- Responsible for the Executive Office, including the staff within, and for a range of corporate standards of administration
- Masters degree in related field or equivalent experience of working at a senior level or Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators qualification or Legal qualification
- Professional specialist and strategic level knowledge acquired across a range of activities relating to Trust governance and managing the secretariat
- Expert knowledge of corporate governance procedures and relevant legislation and the role of company secretary
- Specific in-depth knowledge and understanding of health sector legislation and requirements
- Experience of operating at Board level and the ability to deliver corporate objectives and goals
