A leading NHS organisation is looking to appoint an interim Matron for their Theatres Services, part of the Surgical Directorate team.

Provide professional nursing leadership for nursing staff across Theatres, also act as an initial point of contact for Directorate Senior Team. Advising on all professional nursing /clinical matters.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional nursing leadership and support for nursing staff across a busy Theatres Department;
  • Hold Accountable for the quality of patient care across the Clinical Business Unit including risk management and the patient environment;
  • Work collaboratively with other key staff to lead and develop services provided for patients within the division which will contribute to the Trust’s modernisation agenda;
  • Lead on discharge planning and infection control issues across the Directorate to ensure that infection control and discharge processes are being delivered at a Directorate level;
  • Lead the implementation of the Patient and Public Involvement strategy in the Clinical Business Unit;
  • Ensure effective and prompt reporting of nursing issues and concerns to Senior Management Team;
  • In collaboration with the Deputy Director of Nursing and other members of the corporate nursing team, the post holder will be involved in the planning and implementation of developments relating to nursing throughout the Trust;
  • Demonstrate and support effective communications at all levels through high visibility, accessibility and approachability for nursing staff, patients and the public so that open and honest communication channels are created.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Hold current active registration as either ODP or RGN;
  • Broad range of clinical experience in Theatres setting, this can either be within the NHS or Private Healthcare setting;
  • Significant experience as a manager of Nursing and AHP professionals within a healthcare setting.
