The Client

Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust provides both inpatient and community healthcare to approximately 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire. Acute inpatient care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital.

The trust also provides sexual health services for the metropolitan borough of Sefton. The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre is at Southport hospital and provides specialist care for spinal patients across the North West and the Isle of Man. Services at the trust are commissioned by West Lancashire and Southport & Formby Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has opened for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to lead the Trust’s IT Department in playing its vital part in the Trust’s ambition to provide excellent services.

A revamped Trust Board, with a new Chair, Chief Executive, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer is leading the journey towards improved clinical services, supported by an increase in digital maturity, as assessed nationally, across its hospitals.

The journey to increase the maturity indices is dependent on an ambitious programme of expansion of the Trust’s Electronic Patient Records system along with investment in the Trust’s IT infrastructure to deliver a multi-site Trust that is a specialist; in the delivery of care for older people, is a hub for routine planned care from dedicated facilities, is part of an integrated care system and is a great place to work.

Your proven strategic vision, excellent leadership and strong record of success will support our delivery of safe, effective and high quality services in a financially challenged environment.

You will work with a dedicated, knowledgeable team that covers clinical application, end user, infrastructure, cyber security, telephony, interface management, web development and IT project management services.

You will engage, influence and drive clarity of communication between digital and clinical stakeholders, to drive adoption of innovation, to enhance clinical services

Frequent interactions with Directors, clinicians, operational managers and external stakeholders will require excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of technical capabilities, lead and role model exceptional levels of service, drive a culture of continuous improvement and personal development and have significant knowledge of NHS technical standards and procurement processes.
