Join us and make a difference at the UK’s leading Heart & Chest Hospital

Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital has an international reputation as a leading specialist provider of cardiothoracic services and is twice rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission; we lead the way in providing high quality patient and family centred services, research and innovation.  Our reputation for strong performance is important in delivering the best care for our patients and high-quality clinical services. This is underpinned by a culture of research and innovation, delivered in modern estate and facilitated by technology. We deliver our vision to be the best – leading and delivering outstanding heart and chest care and research as in many ways including as host of Liverpool Health Partners and as a key partner in the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science.  We are now seeking an outstanding finance professional to join our board and to support us as we continue to deliver outstanding results across so many areas.

This wide-ranging role will advise the Board in all aspects of Trust business including capital expenditure and potentially other non-finance responsibilities.  You will also ensure compliance with regulatory and accounting practices.  The role requires strong leadership skills - utilising fresh thinking and commercial acumen - and the ability to develop meaningful partnerships with commissioners and other partners locally and regionally.  CCAB/CIMA qualified, you will be an experienced acute sector finance professional with experience of operating at or close to board level in an NHS organisation, and able to command the respect of colleagues internally and externally.  Your ability to contribute to an experienced and high-performing executive team will be critical, as will your leadership and team-building skills. You need to demonstrate that, working with clinicians and others, you can influence and shape our strategies and plans. You must be able to balance the provision of strategic financial advice to the board with a willingness to directly lead on operational matters when required.  As a board member you will shape and enhance the culture of the organisation, and you will be expected to role model the Trust values and behaviours.
