A significant and high profile NHS organisation is seeking to appoint an Interim Senior Operational Manager for ED and Urgent Care for a 6 month period in the first instance.

This is a key role with the organization and experience in a senior operational management role within the NHS is essential within ED Services.

This role will be remunerated under the NHSI Agency Caps at Band 8d/Band 9.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for all 11.management functions for ED and Urgent Care, managing a wide variety of staff and services;
  • Take a lead in achieving key performance targets in line with local and national agreements;
  • Take management responsibility for the Operational managers and Departmental leads within the Service Group and assume delegated responsibility for the budgets;
  • Provide senior leadership and overall general management, working in close collaboration with the Divisional triumvirate leadership;
  • Support the wider Trust demand & capacity initiatives and planning;
  • Plan and manage the implementation of projects to modernise services and to improve facilities and working practices to meet organisational and service delivery plans;
  • Ensure strong financial service performance against plans through identification of problems at an early stage and the initiation of corrective action;
  • Support the clinical and triumvirate leadership delivering a range of outcomes, ensuring that fundamental and underlying activities to organisational success are achieved.
A Successful candidate will have:
  • Education to degree level or equivalent qualification and or experience;
  • Postgraduate management diploma or equivalent In-depth knowledge in a number of
  • management disciplines acquired through training;
  • Proven experience of managing a significant service budget;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of NHS system reform policy and other key policy drivers;
  • Proven track record of successful and sustained management in an NHS Trust or similar organisation;
  • Successful delivery of significant organisational change;
  • Evidence of a track record in change management;
  • Experience of managing people and teams.
