Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Haematologist at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is based at the Bedford Hospital site which provides services for a population of around 270,000.

We are looking for three enthusiastic and innovative professionals to join a growing team of Haematologists with varying interests and skills to enhance and develop our current service provision.

The appointees will work closely with the other Haematologists in providing a range of Level 2a Haematology services, including diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients. You will be highly skilled in the management of Haemostasis and Chemotherapy. Haemophilia patients are diagnosed at Bedford and treated at Addenbrookes Hospital. The Haematology Department undertakes bone marrow biopsies, outpatient blood transfusion and it supports ante-natal services. The appointees will be required to participate in the department on-call rota.

The unit prides itself on providing comprehensive, high quality Haematology care and good multidisciplinary team working. The Trust is keen to develop an outstanding Haematology service and is looking for highly motivated and innovative physicians to supplement the present team.

The post will be for 10 Programmed Activities.

The Trust is a research active organisation with a number of clinical trials, local academic and pharmaceutical collaboration. There are opportunities available for candidates to take part in the ongoing clinical trials or to lead other national clinical trials. R&D team is available to provide appropriate support. Teaching and development of medical students and trainees is an integral part of the role as well as participation in audit activities.

The Trust is in an excellent location, close to Bedford town centre with excellent travel links to and from London.
