Director of Strategic Commissioning

Employer
Rochdale Borough Council
Location
Rochdale
Salary
to: £128,686
Closing date
18 Sep 2020

As the birthplace of the co-operative movement, Rochdale is a borough where there is a genuine and long-established commitment to working together to improve the lives of local people. Our vision is to make Rochdale a great place to grow up, get on and live well through our strategic priorities of People, Place and Prosperity. As part of Greater Manchester, we are also at the forefront of the leading-edge devolution agenda which is driving integration across health and social care.

In Rochdale we already have a joint structure and strong relationships in place across the council and Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale CCG; the council’s chief executive is the accountable officer for the CCG, and we have a joint Integrated Commissioning Board which is made up of CCG Governing Body and Council Cabinet Members. The results have been impressive – with a shift to outcomes-based commissioning, an integrated emergency assessment and treatment team, more independence at home, and reduced lengths of hospital stay and delayed transfers of care.

We are currently seeking a new Director of Strategic Commissioning to lead our integrated teams and further develop our joined-up approach. We are seeking candidates who can form excellent relationships, lead large and diverse teams, drive new ways of working, and understand what it takes to work in a political environment. The role also carries statutory DASS responsibly, but it is not a traditional DASS role. Candidates could come from local government or the NHS, and we are not prescriptive about your professional background. Rather, we want innovative and passionate candidates who can offer positive ‘challenge’ and inclusive leadership across a wider system.

This is a great opportunity to lead our exciting integration journey to the next level. For more information please click on 'Apply' or talk to our advising consultants Luke Judd (0113 205 6077), Philip Emms (0113 205 6078) or Rachel Cox (0113 205 6068).
