Associate Director of Performance
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Salary – AfC - Band 8d (£73,936 - £86,687)

UHS is a large teaching hospital located on the south coast of England. We have a vision to provide world class healthcare for all, which we achieve through the provision of clinical care, education of current and future healthcare professionals, and undertaking research to improve healthcare for the future.

Our clinical care encompasses local acute and elective care for people who live in Southampton and surrounding areas. As a major teaching hospital, UHS also provides the full range of tertiary medical and surgical specialities to over 3.7 million people living in Southern England and the Channel Islands.

UHS is a centre of excellence for training the healthcare professionals of the future. We work with the University of Southampton and Solent University to educate and develop staff at all levels.

Our role in research, developed in active partnership with the University of Southampton, is to contribute to the development of treatments for tomorrow’s patients. This work distinguishes us as a hospital that works at the leading edge of healthcare developments in the NHS and internationally.

Over 11,900 people work at the Trust, making us one of the area’s biggest employers, with a turnover of more than £875m. Our Trust mission is: together we care, innovate and inspire. This is supported by our values of ‘Patients First, Working Together, Always Improving’.

To support us on this exciting journey we are now seeking to appoint an Associate Director of Performance. The key purpose of this role will be to work with operational teams and colleagues across the wider Trust, to drive improved performance and ensure the Trust meets and exceeds national targets and indicators.
You will be responsible for providing insightful and timely information which allows our clinical divisions to understand their relative performance and opportunities for improvement. You will also be required to hold colleagues to account for the delivery of key performance targets.

The role will require an individual with outstanding analytical skills and the ability to assimilate intricate data and translate this into meaningful information. You will work across the Trust to assess potential threats to performance, understanding and interpreting subtle trends to ensure risks are identified early and mitigated.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious individual who enjoys the challenge of working in fast paced and complex organisation. We welcome applications from candidates from all sectors who can evidence a strong track record in performance/ information management. What is essential, will be your ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Applications close: Sunday, 4 October
Shortlisting Interviews: w/c 12 October
Final Interviews: Thursday, 5 November

If you have a desire to work for a leading organisation with a national profile, then we welcome your interest and application. We would particularly encourage applications from those from under-represented groups or with protected characteristics, as we are committed to improving diversity within our organisation.
