The role of Matron for Children & Young People is key to the planning, evaluation and delivery of care to our youngest patients from 27 weeks gestation through to transition to adult services. This exciting position is becoming vacant due to the retirement of the current post holder and we welcome applications from experienced enthusiastic nurse leaders with a passion for excellence in nursing care and a demonstrable commitment to working with children and young people.

You will work with a team of senior nurses and midwives within the Women & Children's Division and have responsibility for the operational oversight of children's services across all specialities. You will provide professional leadership for the children's nurses at all grades and act as a role model and advocate for your colleagues.

You will be expected to work flexibly at Trust level to represent nursing and deputise for other matron colleagues as appropriate. The role includes participation in the hospital’s management on call rota and training will be provided for this.
