Job Details
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing IPC Leadership across the Trust, setting and auditing standards of infection prevention and control, ensuring they are evidence based and reflect best practice;
- Providing an enabling style of leadership, delivering the current infection prevention and control service, also providing an innovate strategy for the future of service at the Trust;
- Operational support for the Infection Prevention and Control agenda across the Trust, working closely with the divisional teams, creating workable solutions and providing highly expert advice;
- A clinical expert in the specialist field of Infection Prevention and Control, practicing at an advanced clinical level and exercising high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care;
- Provide clinical leadership, expert practice and advanced knowledge, building on the body of nursing knowledge in this specialist area;
- Work with a high level of autonomy, acting as a representative for the Trust on external advisory groups/bodies as required;
- Ensure the governance, accountability and visibility of the IPC agenda is robust, provides assurance and manages identified risks through the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and the Trust Board, via the Director of Infection Prevention and Control.
- Current NMC Registered General Nurse, also Specialist nursing infection control qualification /training;
- Recognised teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998, mentoring or other relevant teaching qualification;
- Significant and relevant experience in senior IPC leadership/management role in a large/complex healthcare organisation;
- Demonstrable experience of Infection Prevention and Control.
