Job Details
Lead and develop the Infection Prevention and Control Service across the organisation.
Main Responsibilities:
- Improve standards of specialist care by facilitating the development of practice and strengthening leadership to ensure that patients with infections or at risk of developing an infection have a positive experience, and to reduce risk and increase safety for staff and patients;
- Oversee and support the Infection Control Team in the development and implementation of a consistent and effective specialist service and to improve outcomes in Infection Prevention and Control within the organisation;
- Act as a clinical expert in Infection Prevention and Control providing expert advice at clinical and strategic level;
- With the DIPC and in liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team to lead/facilitate the development of the Infection Control service at clinical and strategic level;
- Ensure the provision of effective education and training in all aspects of infection control;
- Contribute to the evidence base and body of knowledge that exists regarding the spread and control of infection;
- Contribute to the achievement of the Trust's corporate objectives, Clinical Governance, Nursing and Midwifery Strategy in regards to the fundamentals of care within the organisation in relation to Infection Prevention and Control initiatives;
- Ensure that monitoring and surveillance information is provided, contributing to clinical governance and risk management;
- Communicate effectively in providing specialist advice on infection control matters relating to patients, staff or the environment and regularly guide others in the use of that knowledge and expertise.
- Registered Nurse;
- Experience or quialfication related to Infection Control;
- Demonstrates passion for excellence within IPC and Quality.
