Contract: Fixed-Term, provisionally 12 months

This is a critical time for the Council and in particular the Public Health Team, who are at the forefront of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are looking for an experienced Public Health Consultant who can join our team for 12 months to provide additional capacity and expertise as we continue to respond and deliver our other public health priorities.

The ideal candidate will be a proven strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills to lead and manage public health provision and policy, working across a range of service areas and in partnership with other stakeholders and service providers. Effective interpersonal, motivational and influencing skills are key, as the post holder will be expected provide public health technical/specialist leadership and guidance to senior managers, direct and support stakeholders within the wider multi-agency environment.

This is a challenging but exciting time to be joining the team who have been leading the way with local contact tracing and responding to local outbreaks.

For this post you must be able to cope with multiple and changing demands, and to meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation skills and flexibility is essential. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of tact, diplomacy and an ability to understand other cultures as well as advise, challenge and advocate across organisational boundaries in order to effectively influence stakeholders, senior Council staff and Local Authority Members.
