A large Healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Quality on an interim basis based in London.

Hold responsibility in the quality team for a substantial area of care leading in the development, interpretation, implementation and overall policy and strategy for this area quality.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To lead one of the Quality teams for either primary and community care, mental health or acute based care;
  • ensuring that quality of care commissioned for the organisation is robust, working with relevant directors and partner organisations and will support the Chief Nurse in the setting of the strategic direction of the function;
  • Ensure the Senior Management receives regular reports and assurance briefings on all matters relating to Quality;
  • Lead in the development, interpretation, implementation and monitoring of all areas relating to quality in their lead area but also across pathways and looking forward to developing the way of working within the Integrated Care System;
  • Implementing legislative and policy requirements applicable to their area of responsibility;
  • Contribute effectively to the organisation and, where appropriate borough base improvement programmes particularly in relation to clinical service redesign;
  • Develop and effective way of working with quality leads and borough based leads to oversee all aspects of clinical quality, including oversight of provider quality issues, serious incidents, never events, patient safety and patient experience;
  • Lead the delivery of discrete quality products, such as Quality Profiles of providers, Quality Reports and review processes, reporting and monitoring systems, and support for development of smaller providers;
  • Develop systems to ensure that triangulation of quality issues of concern and early warning signs and escalate accordingly;
  • Develop and maintain processes and systems to ensure that all audit, quality and governance requirements are met for key areas of responsibility;
  • Ensure the production of reports on quality and safety are timely and of a standard suitable for Board presentation.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Educated to masters level with additional in depth specialist knowledge gained through formal training to doctorate level, or equivalent experience;
  • Professional experience and training relating to safeguarding children and adults at risk;
  • Evidence of developing safeguarding strategies, action plans and evaluation and seeing these through to implementation;
  • Experience of managing the delivery and improvement of highly sensitive services within a complex and diverse organisation;
  • Experience of developing strategies to meet changing organisational needs;
  • Experience of managing risk and developing mitigation plans and delivering clinical and professional development;
  • The ability to analyse complex issues, to think and plan to achieve both tactical and strategic objectives, and to exercise sound judgement and decision making in the face of conflicting pressures or a range of options.
