It all starts here

Southend-on-Sea is a place like no other. And what a place to live, work and play. A vibrant, entrepreneurial place, with a burgeoning cultural scene, we are also blessed with many of the things you would expect from a traditional seaside town, including a beautiful coastline, green open spaces and a variety of things to do and places to explore.  It is no wonder that we welcome over 7 million visitors every year.

We are growing, modernising and transforming, as a place and as a Council.  Our Southend 2050 Ambition set a radical, new direction of travel, one which will ensure all Southenders live, learn and work in a prosperous, confident and well-connected city.

We have taken the bold and innovative step to bring together our children and public health services in one integrated directorate.  We are adopting a strengths-based approach and harnessing our universal services to improve outcomes.  Working together in this way will enable public health to become fully integrated across the Council and seamlessly aligned to the wider system.  As Consultant in Public Health, you will be at the forefront of this transformation, addressing health inequalities, leading on community-led initiatives and driving forward important programmes to achieve lasting results for our residents.

We will expect you to be a registered GMC, GDC or UKPHR public health specialist with significant experience in all areas of public health practice. As a Public Health training Council, we host F2 doctors, PH Specialist Trainees, graduate trainees and are looking for someone who is an accredited Clinical Supervisor for the PH training programme. If you are a leader who drives positive change, encourages innovation and delivers outcomes in a collaborative, commercial way, then come to Southend-on-Sea and help shape our city of the future.
