A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an exciting new opportunity for a Quality Improvement Nurse/Practitioner on an interim basis for 6 months.

Provide support, training and information to staff in the organisation related to quality improvement.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Actively promote safe and reliable healthcare, and achievement of the goals and corporate objectives relating to improvement in patient safety;
  • Ensure the continuing development of a proactive quality and patient safety culture and practice throughout the organisation;
  • Lead on specific projects and hold a caseload of ongoing quality improvement projects, some of which will include CQUINs;
  • Undertake regular visits to wards and departments facilitating and supporting quality and patient safety improvements;
  • Responsible for delegated pieces of work using an analytical approach and service improvement techniques such as PDSA cycles, to take forward specific quality improvement and patient safety projects within the organisation without supervision;
  • Advise clinical staff in matters of quality improvement and patient safety to allow implementation of specialised care programmes ensuring high quality and safe care is delivered;
  • Use Quality Improvement methods and engage staff in a way that ensures the improvements are sustained and embedded in practice.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Current professional registration with NMC;
  • Postgraduate level qualification or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Clinical Leadership experience in an Acute NHS setting;
  • Implementing quality improvement initiatives management of change;
  • Patient Safety, and the CQC Framework, standards and requirements;
  • Ability to assimilate, analyse and present complex problems and data, identify necessary action, make recommendations and ensure actions are followed up;
  • Highly motivated and resourceful with a proactive approach to problem solving.
