A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an exciting new opportunity for a Clinical Governance Lead for Infection, Prevention and Control.

This is a 3-month interim post working in the South East Coast area on a band 8a/b.

Lead the Clinical Governance Team in the delivery of the long-term directorate clinical governance strategy, ensuring that this is aligned to the corporate agenda.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that patient safety incidents and quality failures are reported and investigated, and action plans implemented;
  • Lead for the development of quality improvement projects that is centred on poor compliance against clinical standards, trends, high risks areas, complaints and high cost areas;
  • Provide leadership, motivation and supervision within the governance team and across the directorate ensuring that governance is fully understood and incorporated into daily practice;
  • Lead the Directorate preparedness for its regulatory and statutory duties such as CQC inspections;
  • Coordinate and ensure that the service delivers plans for compliance a with all local and national service standards, develop / update relevant policies and is well prepared for any internal or external inspections and/or accreditations;
  • Monitor generic clinical and non-clinical risk assessments, ensuring that action plans are developed by managers and fed into local risk registers, and that there is a systematic approach to monitoring progress on action plans.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Understanding of the wider NHS agenda Knowledge of incident reporting systems e.g. DATIX;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in CQC inspection;
  • Understanding of Infection, Prevention and Control policies and procedures and how this relates to overall governance;
  • Able to analyse and interpret highly complex quantitative data, using statistical process control as appropriate;
  • Able to maintain personal effectiveness and work well under pressure to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work with all staff groups equally successfully, but with the skills to persuade senior staff of importance of the patient safety programme.
