A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Nursing professional, for a period of 6 months to oversee their Surgical Division. This post will report directly to the Chief Nurse. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong, visible professional nurse leadership within the organisation and specifically for the Directorates within Surgery;
  • Lead and co-ordinate a range of activities that promote excellence in nursing and midwifery practice through utilisation of evidence and research, delivery of quality initiatives ensuring the improvement of patient outcomes and experiences;
  • Lead the implementation and evaluation of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy across their areas of responsibility;
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues from other organisations to develop effective networks for the benefit of patients and staff promoting professional standards and evidence based nursing care;
  • Work directly with the Chief Nurse to support nurse leadership across the Trust;
  • Ensure strategies are in place to deliver measurable and sustainable improvement in quality and safety in line with local and national best practice standards;
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of innovative models of care delivery to meet the changing needs of the people who use services;
  • Lead, manage and monitor the implementation of Trustwide corporate priorities as agreed with the Chief Nurse;
  • Be responsible for budgets allocated to the areas of responsibility ensuring efficiency and effective use of resources, which will include ensuring all direct reports understand and are supported in their budgetary responsibilities;
A successful candidate will have:
  • Current registration to the NMC, having maintained continual effective registration by complying with revalidation standards;
  • Extensive experience working within a senior nursing/operational role within the NHS ideally at sub board experience (reporting directly to an Executive Board Director within a previous role)
  • Thorough understanding of the NHS acute environment, through recent experience including the NHS regulations and standards applicable for this type of role.
