A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Patient Safety Manager for 6 months working in the East of England.

This is a band 7 appointment, and the majority of the post will be working on site.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Day to day management of the patient safety team in the delivery of effective systems and processes to effectively gather and act upon patient safety and quality of care information, in line with current Government Legislation, Regulations, Policy Guidance and good practice;
  • Supporting a culture that improves quality by enabling the delivery of high-quality care through the effective identification of lessons/areas for improvement and promotion of learning;
  • Ensure the daily review of new incidents to ensure the accuracy of reporting, and to triage and identify incidents meeting the criteria for escalation to the Executive Review Group, proactively seeking further information as required;
  • Apply experience and judgement to the application of national criteria for the reporting, management and grading of incidents, supporting the identification of those requiring application of Duty of Candour;
  • Ensure that incidents declared as never Events and Serious Incidents are reported via STEIS, and assigned as such on the RLDatix System;
  • Guide and support improvement project plans and progress by providing expertise on improvement approaches;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience using Datix and RCA;
  • Data analysis, report writing, papers and presentations.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must have worked within the NHS and have extensive patient safety experience;
  • Must have experience within Datix and RCA;
  • Strong engagement skills;
  • Experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential information;
  • Clear communicator with excellent written and verbal skills;
  • Work under pressure in a busy working open plan environment and be able to multi-task;
  • Prioritise workload and manage time effectively, in order to meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships and develop networks to ensure effective Patient Safety.
