This is a Fixed Term Part Time appointment at approximately 40 hours per fortnight for 5 years (specific arrangements will be negotiated with the successful applicant).

Position Profile: We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to take on the prestigious position of Chief Pathologist. You will provide expert advice and support to the Chief

Executive and PathWest Executive members through analysis of emerging trends and issues locally, nationally and globally. You will influence service design and development and provide clinical governance across all pathology disciplines. A major feature of your role will be research, leading and supervising innovative projects.

About PathWest: PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA is the pathology arm of the Western Australian Government. As the State’s leading referral pathology laboratory, it is dedicated to improving the health of Western Australians by providing trusted pathology services that are patient-focused, high quality and supported by excellence in teaching and research.

Employing over 2,000 people across Western Australia, PathWest’s workforce consists of professionals from a variety of occupations including pathologists, registrars, medical scientists,technical, laboratory and support staff providing an extensive range of pathology and support services.

PathWest offers a 24/7 commitment to the health needs of the WA community through its contemporary laboratory facilities, collection centres, results lines and on-call clinicians. The pathology services cover the broadest range of routine, complex and rare tests and the active teaching, research and pathology development programs assist not only in enhancing diagnostic accuracy but also in improving the understanding of disease processes and of clinical care.
