A large NHS organisation is currently seeking a very capable individual who has senior level Nursing experience in the healthcare ideally Band 9/VSM level.

Part 1 – Workforce/Skills Mix
  • Undertake a systematic, evidence based and triangulated methodological approach to reviewing staffing levels on an annual basis linked to budget setting and to staffing requirements arising from any developments planned in-year;
  • The National Quality Board have published a series of improvement guides to support safe, sustainable and productive staffing. In the context of our acute service provision this includes the documents listed below, all of which will form the framework of this review.
  • How to ensure the right people, with the right skills, are in the right place at the right time – A guide to nursing, midwifery and care staffing capacity and capability (2013).
  • Supporting NHS providers to deliver the right staff, with the right skills, in the right place at the right time – Safe, sustainable and productive staffing (2016).
  • Safe, sustainable and productive staffing – An improvement resource for adult inpatient wards in acute hospitals (Edition 1, 2018).
  • Safe, sustainable and productive staffing – An improvement resource for urgent and emergency care (Edition 1, 2018).
  • Safe, sustainable and productive staffing – An improvement resource for neo natal care (Edition 1, 2018).
Part 2 – Clinical Governance Review
  • Undertake a quality governance review that considers the quality governance framework, systems and processes. This will include the effectiveness, escalation and assurance to, trust board and sub-committee, executive groups and divisional board.
  • Areas include: Strategy, Clinical Effectiveness, Patient Safety, Investigations and reviews, Patient Feedback and Experience, Patient and public Involvement, Clinical and quality improvement, Governance and Assurance, Professional standards, Legal, Risk management, Learning and improvement, Morbidity and Mortality, Regulation and governance, Infection Prevention Control, Safeguarding.
  • The review will require a diagnostic assessment method to establish an independent view on the current position of compliance and completion against the characteristics of a ‘good’ rated assessment.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC;
  • Experience of overseeing the above to factors in a very senior nursing role within the NHS, ideally someone who has operated at Deputy Chief Nurse/Chief Nurse in a provider organisation.
