An exciting new opportunity has arisen to work for an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Communications Manager, for up to 3 months in the first instance.

The postholder will play a critical role in developing and implementing communications and engagement across the organisation. Candidates must have significant experience in a communications function within the NHS.

The role will be remunerated under the NHSI Agency Caps at Band 6. ASAP start.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy that will enhance the reputation of the organisation both internally and externally;
  • Lead on the communications for service projects and campaigns, ensuring they are strategically aligned, delivered using recognised communications methodologies and to a high standard;
  • Ensure all campaigns are managed in line with internal processes and best practice, incorporating evaluation and using this learning to measure success and drive improvements;
  • Social media management and website development;
  • Liaise with staff to identify stories to pitch to the media, draft press releases, briefings, statements and other messages for media and stakeholders, as part of a rolling programme of proactive media coverage.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • An education to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience;
  • Demonstrable experience of devising, implementing and managing successful communications and engagement programmes, involving a broad range of stakeholders;
  • Significant proven experience of managing proactive and reactive media relations.
