Job Details

A large Healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Estates on an interim basis for 6 months.

The post will be working in the South West on a band 8C, inside IR35.

Provide senior management to the Estates Operational Services. Lead on all specialist aspects of estates and associated operational services.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for planning and implementing service improvement and modernisation;
  • Require strong resource management and planning skills, using effective leadership to engage positively with the workforce and develop excellent staff survey results;
  • Implement the plan to improve the Electrical resilience;
  • Day to day operations of Estates Operational Services and develop these services in accordance with the organisation’s corporate policies, strategies and vision, emphasising the cultural changes and innovation essential to modernising health care and an improved patient experience;
  • Manage key strategic and operational Estates change management programmes and key projects;
  • Plan and deliver the organisation’s capital backlog maintenance programme, as well as dedicated building infrastructure projects;
  • Develop all aspects of the Estates Operational Services elements of any NHS Planning and participate in associated national requirements, i.e., statutory regulations, medical devices, PLACE, decontamination, fire, health and safety and be involved in developing and overall Trust-wide approach;
  • Responsible for planning and delivering service cost improvements through productivity and efficiencies in a financially sustainable manner.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must have an Engineering background, either mechanical and electrical;
  • Significant and relevant Estates operational management at senior level for at least 5 years within the NHS;
  • Planning and delivery of cost improvements;
  • Making difficult senior management decisions;
  • Implementation of Estates services strategies and action plans;
  • All relevant legislation and guidance associated with Estates and Facilities Infrastructure
  • including HTMs and HBNs;
  • CQC standards that apply to Estates and Facilities Infrastructure services;
  • Sound professional/technical knowledge of Estates issues including Mechanical and
  • Electrical engineering.
