A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an exciting new opportunity for a Governance & Risk Lead - Maternity Services.

This is an interim post for 3 months in the East of England on a band 8b.

To ensured that effective and sustainable systems of Clinical Governance, Quality and Risk are in place.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Review board to ward governance arrangements for maternity and in conjunction with the Divisional Leadership team to provide assurance that the framework facilities the prioritisation of processes and culture that ensure the highest levels of patient safety;
  • Work in partnership with the DLT to ensure that the systems and processes for management of risk and prompt investigations of serious incidents is consistent with enabling lessons to be learnt, communicated and embedded in practice;
  • Ensure that the system of clinical governance captures learning from low and no harm incidents effectively;
  • Identify trends in complaints and untoward incidents and initiate changes in practice in collaboration with the Divisional Leadership Team if indicated;
  • Review the system for complaint management across the service to ensure the prompt investigation of complaints relating to Maternity services whilst working in partnership with multi-disciplinary colleagues across the Division;
  • Complete a review of existing clinical governance arrangements within the service including a review of existing roles and responsibilities across the service;
  • Develop a programme to engage and educate staff in the application and management of clinical governance processes.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Current or previous Clinical registration, preferably in midwifery;
  • Track record of successful delivery in a Clinical Governance within the NHS;
  • Must have experience within Risk Management;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including listening skills;
  • Able to build a relationship with range of stakeholders.
