Job Details
Main Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in the challenge to improve the profile of Infection Prevention and Control throughout the Trust;
- Continually improve and sustain performance in reducing Health Care Associated Infections (HCAIs), by developing systems that are evidence-based and grounded in best practice;
- Support and underpin organisational standards of practice in relation to Infection Prevention and Control, in line with requirements as set out by the CQC, the Hygiene Code, national and locally agreed quality standards in collaboration with Commissioners;
- Lead on the development and delivery of the Infection Prevention and Control annual work programme, ensuring engagement of all levels of staff, patients and external organisations;
- Responsible for the co-ordination and development of a quality Infection Prevention and Control service throughout the organisation, providing leadership, support and guidance to all Trust staff and ensuring a patient focused service;
- Provide specialist clinical advice and expertise to all health care professionals across the organisation;
- Provide operational leadership of the Infection Prevention and Control service;
- Where required, the Lead Nurse deputises for the Chief Nurse in the management of outbreak control meetings, Root Cause Analysis meetings and the production of all Infection Prevention and Control reports;
- 1st Level Registration with NMC;
- Post Registration qualification infection, prevention and control/or significant work based experience in a Lead IPC role;
- Prior achievements in devising strategies to reduce health care acquired infection.
