Chief Executive Officer- East Sussex Healthcare Trust

We are seeking to appoint a determined and driven Chief Executive Officer for our ambitious Trust .

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) is proud to provide Outstanding Care and be a great place to work. We are the only integrated provider of acute and community care in Sussex, which means that we care for people from two acute hospitals in Eastbourne and Hastings, two community hospitals in Bexhill and Rye, in hundreds of community clinics across East Sussex and in people’s own homes.

The ESHT family of over 7,000 dedicated staff work tirelessly to deliver healthcare services to more than half a million local people. We were delighted that this work was recognised by the CQC in March 2020 when they gave the Trust an overall rating of ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ for our care and the delivery of effective services.

ESHT has made significant progress across all key performance areas in recent years and developed a strengthened reputation as a place to work and receive care. Improvements have been made to the quality and safety of care we provide, the accessibility of our services and the feedback that we receive from patients and members of staff. This has been done whilst steadily improving our finances.

We have also seen significant investment and development at the Trust, including a multi-million pound MRI unit, a new Urology Investigation Suite and new Ambulatory Care units. We are excited to be planning for a major refurbishment work, as part of our ‘Building for our Future’ project at three of our hospitals over the next 10 years.

The Chief Executive will take us through the next stage of our development. This is both an exciting and challenging time for ESHT. We need to ensure that we come out of the Covid19 pandemic, restart and recover our services whilst also continuing on our trajectory of improvement, delivering exceptional standards of care in a financially responsible way. But that is only a part of what is needed. Collaboration and integration have been vital ingredients in our success. Keeping our focus on all of this is going to take a skilled, experienced leader who can balance delivering for today with shaping our future.

The ideal candidate will have experience of leading high performing teams and setting the overall strategic direction, culture and operational management of the Trust to deliver our objectives and outcomes. All this while ensuring we provide excellent patient care, an amazing experience for our people, as well as making the very best use of resources. You will be a  credible leader who can influence diverse stakeholders in complex  environments. Our next CEO will have successfully led organisations through periods of significant change, while at the same time strengthening the capabilities and effectiveness of teams.

You will bring a positive ‘can do’ attitude, have great communication skills and a passion for engaging our people and patients to deliver the very best.

If you think that you might be this leader then please take some time to look through the full recruitment pack. (see below)
