Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is made up of a dynamic group of over 8,000 dedicated colleagues, working collaboratively across the Trust and with partners across the Lancashire and South Cumbria ICS to deliver a wide range of healthcare services.  One of the largest acute trusts in the country with an annual income of over £550m, we provide a full range of general hospital services to almost 450,000 people in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble, as well as specialist tertiary services to 1.8m people across the wider region.  Our purpose is to provide the highest standards of compassionate, safe care that gives our patients a positive experience; excelling in research, innovation, and teaching; developing our staff to reach their potential and improving the health and wellbeing of our diverse communities.

Karen Partington is retiring this year after 10 successful years as our Chief Executive, and we are seeking a new leader to take forward our Trust at a critical time.  Following a challenging year responding to the pandemic, we are focused on the recovery of our services alongside an acceleration in our role as a key system partner both locally and regionally in integrating health and care services for our populations.  We are seeking a visible, inclusive, and empowering leader who is focused on meeting the diverse needs of our population and supporting our staff to flourish in a culture of collaboration with partners which will demand new ways of working to deliver high quality care that is both effective and efficient.

This role will ideally suit an established provider Chief Executive.  You will create a clear, inspiring vision and accountability structure for our dedicated workforce as we transform services to improve their quality and sustainability.  Recognising our position as the hub for specialist acute care across the region, this role will require courage and acumen as we seek to work collaboratively with our system partners to drive the creation of a regional offer that improves the health and wellbeing of our residents now and in the future.  You will also help to shape the Lancashire & South Cumbria New Hospitals Programme, an exciting opportunity for the region to leverage government investment to develop brand new, world class facilities for local people.

This is a career defining opportunity to lead a dynamic and ambitious organisation and to make a significant contribution to developing the culture and conditions for successful integration of health and care services for populations across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
