Job Details

Woodrow Mercer Healthcare are supporting a regional recovery model to support the execution and delivery of the 2021/22 priorities and operational planning guidance which was released on 25th March 2021.

The guidance sets the priorities for the year ahead, against a backdrop of the challenge to restore services, meet new care demands and reduce the care back logs that are a direct consequence of the pandemic, whilst supporting staff recovery and taking further steps to address inequalities in access, experience and outcomes.

We all know COVID-19 has significantly impacted care-systems and hence the financial settlement for the first half of the year provides an additional £6.6bn + £1.5bn for COVID-19 costs above the original mandate, as well as another £1bn for elective recovery and £0.5bn for mental health. Systems will need to develop plans for activity, workforce and finances for the first 6 months of 2021/22.

We are therefore looking for available Interim consultants who can support three key areas that have been identified and to join a regional associate pool to support the recovery and restoration efforts:

Service Transformation:

  • Maximising Elective Activity by creating plans for H1 to achieve targeted recovery each month (85% of 2019/2020 by July);
  • Restoring full operation of all cancer services;
  • Managing increased demand on mental health services;

System Working

  • Work collaboratively to deliver operational plan priorities;
  • Develop ICSs as organisations ahead of legislative changes;
  • Implement ICS-level financial arrangements;

Continued delivery of COVID-19 defence!

  • Continue to meet the needs of COVID-19 patients
  • Take stock of physical critical care capacity and workforce
  • Prepare for COVID-19 re-vaccination programme from autumn

Please note these are requirements for an Associate pool as part of a regional recovery model and you are applying to be part of a "call off arrangement" which can be used by NHS organisations across a whole region.

Key abilities and attributes to support work stream leads will be:

  • Highly organised and able to work independently;
  • Experienced in organising project governance and plans;
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbally;
  • Ability to work to challenging deadlines and cope with changing requirements;
  • Strong stakeholder management;
  • Strong Improvement background;
  • Efficiency and productivity;
  • Ability to land and form relationships building rapport and sign up;
  • Good knowledge of NHS/public sector ways of working and processes in contracting/commissioning

Please also note that the advertised day rate is the "maximum cap" for this Associate pool and so if you are unable to work at this rate, feel free to get in touch about other assignments, but this programme will not be suitable for you.
