A large Healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Clinical Services / Matron. This is an interim appointment working in Yorkshire.

Providing clinical leadership, direction and operational management to support and meet the business and workforce objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • As part of the Senior Leadership Team will ensure there is a documented Service Plan through the undertaking of a catchment population health service need analysis and market share analysis;
  • Establish a Clinical Governance & Risk Management Plan incorporating the concepts of risk minimisation and continuous improvement;
  • Be actively involved in the development and implementation of Clinical Governance and Risk Management Plans;
  • Oversee care delivery and coordinate the activities of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring optimal patient outcomes are achieved, with the available resources while complying with requirements;
  • Ensure clinical services managers understand and comply with cost control initiatives such as supply management, length of stay and labour costs while providing support and education to new or interim department managers;
  • Uphold Health and Safety policies/guidelines and legislation to safeguard the wellbeing of all those who enter the hospital premises;
  • Identify key community, social and environmental issues or impacts and develop strategies to improve performance and outcomes in these areas;
  • Develop a succession plan for key positions throughout the organisation;
  • Work with department managers to establish appropriate clinical skill mix, monitor variances and rectify skill mix deficits and gaps;
  • Enable all staff to develop and maintain healthy working relationships with a wide range of individuals and groups, both internally and externally.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Current Clinical Registration with NMC;
  • Experience in elective surgical environment;
  • Proven experience working at a senior management level within the health care industry;
  • Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate a clinical services team providing strong strategic direction and positive leadership;
  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary clinical risk management strategies that are effective in promoting and ensuring high quality patient care;
  • Aware of the relevant legislative requirements and governing body reporting responsibilities of hospital/ clinical services departments.
