Job Details

We have a new opportunity looking for a Data Management Lead for a 4 month contract based on site in Central London.

Job Purpose:


The primary activity will be the management and running of the data warehouse landscape. They will also be responsible for the management and deployment of Business Intelligence tools. They will lead a team of data and business intelligence professionals, who run and develop the data warehouse environments and deploy data sets for analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To be the technical lead on the Trust-wide data warehouse landscape. This includes ensuring the core data warehouses are maintained and developed in such a way that they provide robust and reliable information from all relevant Trust information needs;
  • To manage the Business Intelligence landscape and tools including deployment of analytical tools and provisioning of data into those tools;
  • Managing the development of data engineering methods and implementation of relevant tools to deliver leading analytics;
  • Providing leadership and management of the data engineering and development team;
  • Liaising with other functions across the Trust, including ICT on infrastructure, to ensure a coordinated approach on data integration and support standardisation;
  • Managing the data engineering support for individual projects and the provisioning of data for users;
  • Managing structured upgrades and testing programmes to support development of both operational applications (e.g. the EPR system) and data warehouse developments;
  • Work collaboratively with other functions across the Trust, including ICT, DRIVE, HR and Finance managing a landscape that supports all uses and specifically addresses the relationship between activity and income;

Knowledge and Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of data warehouse architecture, design and implementation, data integration and data engineering methods and tools and experience of developing data workflows in a complex environment;
  • Experience of a variety of different data warehousing and data management technologies including proprietary, Microsoft suite (i.e. SQL Server, SSIS, …) and Opensource;
  • Experience in implementing and supporting Business Intelligence tools;
  • Expert knowledge of data models, standards, terminologies, and ontologies in healthcare;
  • Installing and setting up and managing BI and reporting tool environments to support Trust wide use;
  • Ability to work with non-technical users to create report and data specifications, whilst understanding their needs and adding value based on the Trust Information Systems.
