A large NHS organisation is currently looking to appoint an experienced Director level social work professional, this is a new and exciting key addition to the corporate/executive senior management structure within the organisation. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • This is a strategic role to champion the social model of disability and promote a strengths and community asset-based approach to mental health with rights-based practice across this London Borough.
  • Excellent ability to manage a range of partner relationships across a complex system, with the local authorities retaining statutory responsibility for social care duties and functions and through their management structure to support the operational delivery of the social work/Local Authority statutory duties priorities;
  • Provide corporate strategic Social Care leadership across the Trust Executive, lead on the development and delivery of a programme of cultural change to effectively embed the social model across the Trust;
  • Include a focus across the whole workforce of the Trust (not just the employed social workers) and working in partnership with the local authority senior management teams;
  • Provide an effective interface between the Trust local authority partners;
  • Lead on embedding a culture of partnership working and addressing any negative discourse between the health and social care models;
  • Work in partnership with borough heads of service as they seek to develop innovative and integrated mental health provision through the promotion of social care values and principles, social work interventions and approaches;
  • Support Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act programmes and committees;
  • Develop robust working relationships and new ways of working involving the 3rd sector and voluntary sector partners, working alongside the CCG and the local authority who already have strong, established relationships;
  • Ensure compliance to Social Work England Standards of all trust employed social workers.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Registered social worker; Degree/Diploma in social work or equivalent;
  • Significant experience of delivering professional social work leadership, held management role at a senior level within social care and/or NHS mental health provision and of meeting objectives and performance management targets;
  • Proven track record of working across complex organisational and system wide boundaries and collaboration.
