Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the biggest and busiest acute NHS trusts in the North West, with an income of over £335 million.  With over 6,500 employees we are the largest employer in Wirral and provide a full range of acute healthcare services across the peninsula.  Our vision is that ‘together we will deliver the best quality and safest care to the communities we serve.’  We deliver this through pathways of care which are enabled by innovation and leading-edge technology.  Central to our strategic development is the transformation and integration of services locally within the Healthy Wirral Partnership and through collaborative working within the broader Cheshire & Merseyside Health & Care Partnership.

Hazel Richards has announced her retirement this summer, and we are seeking a new Chief Nursing Officer to join our dedicated Board at a critical time for the health of our population.  Our new Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Infection Prevention and Control and Executive Director of Midwifery will inspire a talented and dynamic senior team in leading and supporting our nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce as they continue to demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and commitment through the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.  This is an opportunity to build on our successful and innovative recruitment and retention work, implement our new patient experience and safety strategy and embed a cultural of continuous quality improvement whilst ensuring our governance processes provide assurance to the Board on all aspects of clinical risk.

We are seeking a visible and engaging leader, with significant experience or exposure at Board level and a track record of improving quality, safety, experience, and engagement for patients and staff in an acute NHS setting.  With an open style, you will play a full corporate role on our Board and support leaders at all levels to achieve their potential and embed our commitment to the continuous improvement of the safety and experience of our patients.  Progressive, strategic, and dynamic, you will be a collaborative system leader able to respond to the changing needs of our population. Most of all you will share our values of caring, respect, teamwork and improvement, our passion for providing high quality care to our patients and for creating a supportive environment for our workforce.
