An exciting new opportunity has arisen to work for an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Director of Operations, for up to 3 months in the first instance.

The postholder will be responsible for operational management and strategic direction across the Divisional Management structure. Candidates must have considerable experience of change management and managing operational services at this level within Acute Providers.

The role will be remunerated under the NHSI Agency Caps at Band 8d/9.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Provision of strong leadership and strategic direction for the delivery of operational services;
  • Overall responsibility for performance management of the organisation and operational service delivery;
  • Take lead responsibility for delivering national and internal targets;
  • Efficient and effective use of resources to ensure highest standards of patient care and excellent service delivery;
  • Ensure the delivery of agreed quality and financial standards;
  • Manage the development and implementation of new strategic objectives;
  • Maintain effective working partnerships with commissioners, external stakeholders and other NHS services.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Masters degree qualification, MBA or equivalent level of experience at a senior level;
  • Experience of managing operational services at this level within Acute Providers is essential;
  • Expert knowledge of strategic development and implementation within an operational setting;
  • Experience of managing transformation in an operational setting;
  • Significant experience of managing large budgets and high numbers of staff;
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
