MFT are seeking a talented, passionate and strategic professional to appoint as their next Group Director of Clinical Governance, providing visible leadership and expert advice on all matter’s quality, patient safety, regulation and risk management for the largest Trust in England; an undoubtable career changing opportunity.

The Role

Reporting to the Joint Group Medical Directors and Group Chief Nurse, Responsible for the delivery of the Patient Safety and Quality Strategy, you will provide leadership and direction on the Trust’s first strategic objective –To improve patient safety, clinical quality and outcomes.

You will have a pivotal leadership role for the Trust in the delivery of a vision that encompasses quality, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching. Working across the entire Group you will support the eight Hospital/Managed Clinical Services Executives and their teams on all areas of clinical governance so that high standards are consistent across the organisation, and learning is shared. You will report on progress at Board level, throughout the organisational and externally to regulators and partners.

You will also lead on the Trust relationship development with a number of Healthcare regulatory agencies including but not limited to the Care Quality Commission. You will lead oversight and assurance processes for compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

MFT have welcomed and embraced the new National Patient Safety Strategy and placed this at the cornerstone of their patient safety programme. They are in the process of developing their Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP) and you will lead on the delivery of this plan within the required timescales. You will, with your team, including the Trust Patient Safety Specialist, build on the significant progress already made including the establishment of MFT’s Human Factors Academy.

About You

Educated to Master’s level in a healthcare field or with equivalent experience, you will hold RGN registration with sound understanding of NHS policy, legal and inspection frameworks.

With substantial clinical and corporate governance experience at a sub board level, you will possess a proven track record in delivering measurable improvement along with possessing a breadth of skills in managing external regulation and response and be highly capable in preparing reports and presentations for both a local and national level.

Building rapport and relationships with stakeholders at all levels will come naturally to you with a sense of purpose and commitment to achieving excellence first time, every time. With a politically astute mind, a highly resilient approach and an emotionally intelligent leader, you’ll have the gravitas and confidence to influence people and programmes of work to drive the clinical governance agenda. Ultimately, you are a meticulous subject matter expect with a can-do attitude who has a strength of character to effect change for the future care and safety of all service users, patients and their families.
