An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Head, Neck, Eyes and Plastics Management Team and we are delighted to be able to advertise for a Deputy General Manager to support with the delivery of high quality care across the Business Unit.

The Head, Neck, Eyes and Plastics Business Unit at Derby are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team, working closely with our clinical and non-clinical members, and providing support to the General Manager and Operational Team in the delivery of patient centred care.

As the Deputy General Manager for Head, Neck, Eyes and Plastics you will play a vital role in the operational and strategic management of the Business Unit. Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering the restoration of our post-pandemic services
• Preparing business cases and papers in line with the strategic priorities of the Business Unit and wider Division of Surgery.
• Presenting information to, and liaising with a variety of stakeholders in relation the Business Unit’s work-streams.
• Managing complex HR issues and investigations on behalf of the Business Unit or wider Division of Surgery.
• In collaboration with the General Manager – managing the budget within a scheme of delegation – for the Business Unit and ensuring we are investing and spending our money wisely.
• Developing and embedding improvement practices and projects to ensure our services and our people are resilient.
• Participating in the Surgical Lead for beds and the Senior Manager on Call rota.

The Head, Neck, Eyes and Plastics business unit encompasses:

• Ophthalmology
• Ear Nose and Throat Surgery
• Audiology
• Oral and Maxilla Facial Surgery
• Orthodontics
• Plastic Surgery
