A large Healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Director of Governance, Risk and Quality on an interim basis for 12 months, working on a band 9.

lead in creating a culture and environment in which all aspects of outstanding quality governance including risk management and continuous quality improvement are embedded.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice and leadership in the areas of quality improvement, quality governance, risk, regulation, and quality performance monitoring;
  • Improve Quality Department Workforce metrics and mainstream talent mapping across Quality function;
  • Establishing and maintaining systems and processes that ensure good clinical and corporate governance of the organisation;
  • Ensure actions are complete and evidenced and learning is spread across the organisation in relation to CQC inspections/action plans;
  • Lead the implementation of corporate governance strategies and contribute to the development of other governance strategies;
  • Provide advice, support and training to executive, clinical and divisional directors in the development and maintenance of robust governance processes and systems;
  • Maintenance and reporting of Board Assurance Framework;
  • Ensure the provision of accurate and timely information to key governance meetings and stakeholders to inform appropriate decision making (incidents, trends, risks etc.);
  • Responsible for the development and management of the Risk Register, seeking assurance from Risk & Governance Leads that registers are actively reviewed, and risks managed.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Must have extensive expertise within Clinical Governance and Corporate Divisions, developing and implementing services;
  • Experience working at a senior level within the NHS;
  • Significate experience within Clinical & Quality Governance, Assurance and Risk Management;
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge of all relevant policy areas;
  • A proven track record in delivering results in a complex environment;
  • Experience of working across organisational boundaries delivering projects across multi-disciplinary services or sites, working with a range of multi-disciplinary stakeholders including external agencies and regulators.
