Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications to the post of Chief Informatics Officer. This is a key senior leadership (sub-board level) role with responsibility for IT systems and infrastructure, clinical coding and data science, information governance, unified telecommunications, and IT transformation.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer you will provide strategic leadership to the key informatics agenda in support of the Trusts operational and strategic priorities. We are looking for an experienced senior IT leader, with a preference for NHS experience (although we would consider exceptional candidates from the private sector). You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the Trust and our external partners. You will have well developed change management skills and a background in the delivery of change and implementation of new systems and ways of working.

Alongside the CIO role for the Trust, you will provide interim leadership to the CCG and Primary Care informatics portfolio and be directly accountable to both the FT and CCG boards and support the progression of developed collaboration and integration for Bolton Healthcare Informatics.

This is a hugely exciting time as the Trust moves from the management of the global pandemic into a full system re-set alongside our well-developed strategic plans and vision, which include the development of a new hospital site at the Royal Bolton Hospital. Our Informatics services are central to this, and we already have excellent IT coverage and engagement with our clinical teams and staff………the challenge for our new Chief Informatics Officer will be to build on this and help the Trust provide a truly world-class informatics service for the benefit of our patients, the people of Bolton, and our wonderful staff.

You will be joining a high-performing integrated NHS Trust, rated Good in our last CQC inspection but striving for even more. We were delighted to hear that our staff rated us as ‘the best place to work in Greater Manchester’ in the most recent Staff Survey results (Q4 2020/21) and this is testament to the truly unique family and team feel at the Trust. We can offer you a wonderful place to work and develop.

In terms of development we are committed to you being the best you can be in this role and will ensure that you are fully supported whilst in post.

The accompanying candidate welcome pack has been designed to tell you more about the Trust, our aspirations and achievements, and our VOICE values which underpin everything we do. We look forward to hearing from you.

The vision of this Trust is to be recognised by the people of Bolton and beyond as an excellent provider of health and care services and a great place to work.  We are striving to attract, recruit and retain high calibre skilled staff which reflect our communities. We are an inclusive employer who trains and develops our staff in a positive learning environment.   We aim to be consciously inclusive and therefore applications from all sectors of the community are welcomed. We would particularly encourage candidates from a black and minority ethnic (BAME) background and candidates with health conditions or impairments.

Closing date: Sunday 23rd May 2021.
